sorry for the wait...... Class Blog(11/16/12)

Today in class we reviewed everything we have learned so far in this course.  Throughout this class we have learned a lot, some more than others. However, together we all have gotten something out of taking this class.

As the semester starts to come to an end it is go to know that we all had something to take from the time we spent together. We have grown a lot as students in these last few months and I do not know, but I have grown as a person as well.

On another note, today Heather introduced the books of postsecrets to those who did not know of them.
She brought in two books one for older people and one that seemed to more so for teenagers. She showed the class pictures for us to interrupt and figure out the intended audience.

After we looked at the books, it was our turn to make our own postsecret. Heather supplied the class with postcards, magazines, books and glue to use for their postsecret.  We had to share a secret using the postcard, it did not matter what it was. After we finished our postcard we had to blog about. Once that was done we were allowed to leave class was over the day.

My Favorite Peer Review Technique

One peer review that I feel works well for me is the one we did today. I like the one on ones because you get to see and understand what the reader is thinking. finding out how my peers feel about my writing is helpful since they are the real audience of my paper. Also I like the suggestions that are given it helps me formulate  my own new ideas. I use them as a guide to keep me focused and on the right tract.

Honesty is hard to find

Relationships are a key element to life. There are plenty of different kinds such as friendship or an intimate relationship between two people. These are both very beautiful things if created with the right person. Relationships should have a level of trust and honest within it that holds the two together. Without honest there is no trust and without trust there is nothing but heartache and lies. Pain can surface very quickly in a relationship without honesty. Everybody claims that they never want to hurt the other person but if you are being dishonest you hurt them before it even began. Lying is like a disease that just keep spreading though the body. Once you tell that first lie it is all over from there. After that first lie comes the lie to cover that one and the one to cover that one and so on. It is like a never ending plaque that can only be stopped by a sacrifice. In order for you to get yourself out of this hole you must tell the true. That old saying "The true will set you free" is not just old people rambling but it holds some real meaning to it. when you are honest there is nothing that no one can hold over your head or make you regret. By being honest you control your happiness.

Peer Review

1.What are some ways to approach this paper?
 - Marisa said that I should make sure that the photo is linked to the text. she told me to look at what the image is showing and to see if the text matches it.

2. Why Miley? and How has the media changed your view of Miley?
 - Marisa said because Miley Cyrus has gone through such a drama transformation over the pass couple of years. Also because she was a Disney star she is being highly judged for how she wants to live her life.
-Marisa replied "Shit gets out there and she just puts herself in a bad situation.

Overall I got a lot out off my peer review

Paper Two

-My paper is analyzing magazines
-The reason I picked magazines is because I feel as though I can say a lot about them. I don't think i will get stuck on like the fifth page with nothing else to say.
-I'm not really sure how I am going to analyze it yet, but I;m thinking about comparing different magazines and the way the approach situations. I also might compare and contrast how the pictures they use is established by their audience.
-Some questions my partner asked me were (1) How many magazines do you plan on using? and (2) Are you going to use all popular magazines or use two popular and two not so well known?

I'm still a little foggy on how I plan on approaching this assignment.

In this photo there is a grandmother and all of here grandchildren. There is ten kids, however, the caption read that she only could account for six of them. The photo has the grandmother in the middle of all of these children which caught me a little off guard. i did not understand why all of these kids who don't look that far apart in age was surrounding her with a caption saying she only can account for six. plus i could not figure out why most of them look so unhappy. i think this photo has both a short and long story behind it.

Home Sweet Home

I miss being so close to the beach. back home it was all of five minutes away. its so relaxing when ever i feeled stressed i go and let the waves take away my problems.

The introduction for my paper starts off with  my hypothesis on what plays as a major influences on peoples views of the world. I am letting the reader know my opinion on the matter so that he or she can see where i am coming from in my paper. i made sure that it was broad enough for everyone to feel included in some way. My conclusion is not as broad as my introduction. i was trying to wrap up all my thoughts without restating anything. it tells the readers exactly why i picked those films and all that they have given me.

Thought my draft was good I am going to perfect it. I need to go into deep an analysis of the films I have chosen and how they affect my view on the world. I wish I had enough time to go back and watch all of the films and then write my paper after but since time is limited I am just going to go off of memory and analysis from the internet. I know in my draft I wrote very light on the situations instead of going into their true meanings of the movie and on what I thought and how I honestly felt. Going back and making these changes well not only make my paper better but it will also give the reader a better insight into the way I view the world we live in.

John Wayne and Lion King

Joan Didion leaded plenty from John Wayne. He was her ideal man even though she knew that no one would ever be like John Wayne. He taught her that a man is suppose to be strong no matter what they are facing in life. Even when he was diagnosed with cancer he still was the strong and tough man she knew and  loved. Along with this lesson he showed her that a man should be a provider and give you things you may have dreamed of. While learning about a man she also learned  about how to be a woman and knew that even though it was ideal she was not cut out to be the damsel in distress. Didion was taught that a woman was underestimated and was not equivalent to a man. They saw woman as weak and delicate but they also were the voice of reason. She so shows that woman are searching for their John Wayne in life until they find him.

When I was a child my favorite movie was Lion King. One thing from that movie that always stuck with me was the phrase "Hakana Matata", which meant no worries. I mean growing up I did not have the most spectacular life but with that saying always in my mind I made the best out of ever situation.

When I am given a writing prompt I tend to put it off as long as possible. Then once the time as wined down I rush and put together something. I know that this is not good but has worked for me so far. I go about things this way because I feel as though I am not a good writer and I do not  process my complete thoughts properly. Starting off my essay is the most difficult for me because I never know exactly what to say. But once I get started everything just pretty much flows.

My writing is lazy. When I write it has not purpose other then to just get it done. there is no inspiration behind what i am saying. My papers are sitting at home on their couch watching television in their pj. Then i compare it to a friends and i get a little inspiration to do better . This is when my writing goes into training for the big game.
